FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK – Happy New Year

Dear NBA Member and Stakeholder,

Happy New Year and I wish you all a most resourceful year ahead.

As we all take stock of the year(s) just rolled past and plan ahead to take advantage of optimism borne of an understanding of the essence of vision and mission, we may want to look beyond the rather dismal global economic and political outlook and concentrate on the “Africa on the rise” expectations which are still yet to be fully appropriated.

Taking from the example of South Korea, which was considered poorer than Ghana just five decades ago, but which due to continual visioning and social re-engineering, we simply have to engage fully in the War against Social Inequality fast eroding the theoretical economic gains and growth of the recent past.

Towards this end, it is heart-warming to learn that the highly touted National Conference is definitely going to hold. The Nigeria-Britain Association National Conference Dialogue Session led by Chief Emeka Anyaoku TC, GCVO, CFR, CON last November brought into focus the need for a proper discussion by the various nationalities within the current Nigerian geographical expression, towards building a lasting federal contraption, acceptable to all from scratch.

We also look forward to learning, from the past and ongoing experiences of the UK and Europe in general and Scotland, in particular in terms of getting things right down to the wire in the final analysis. There will be a follow up Dialogue as soon as the commencement is formally flagged off.

The Akintola Williams Annual Lecture is now confirmed to hold on the 6th of February and we sincerely look forward to the usual exquisite delivery with the follow-up Presidential Cocktail that will hold in the evening after the Lecture.

The updated 2014 Events Calendar will be circulated shortly and we would appreciate information on relevant happenings both in Nigeria and the UK and new ideas for moving things forward in the interest of all, even as your treasured feedback will be acknowledged and acted upon promptly.

I wish us all extraordinary fulfilment of expectations in 2014 and beyond and I look forward to meeting up to fellowship with you shortly.
